Responding to Hurricane Helene

Organizing Our Efforts

Local Response

Sunday School Classes

Our classes are reaching out to check on one another and identify needs. If you are part of a class, please respond and share any concerns.

Elders and Deacons

Our elders are shepherding the congregation, while our deacons are mobilized to meet needs. They are ready to assist wherever help is required.

Communicating Needs

If you or someone you know needs assistance, please reach out to your Sunday School class or nearby members. You can also email us at relief@firstprescolumbia.org or leave a message at (803) 513-7931, and we will make sure the request is routed appropriately.

Church Resources

The Bridge is open and available Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. if you need a place to charge phones or take care of other needs.

Laundry Help

If you have power, please consider offering access to your laundry facilities for those without it. A simple act like washing clothes can bring great relief in times like these.

Disaster Relief Fund

If you feel led to support our relief efforts financially, you can donate to our Disaster Relief Fund online, or by writing a check with "Disaster Relief Fund" in the memo line and mailing it to:

Disaster Relief to Asheville, NC

To Asheville With Love: We Filled TWO Trucks!

Pastor Duff James (City Church of Asheville), who is the brother of our own Billy James, is in need of many items for his congregation which, like so many in the area, is reeling from the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene. The Hardship and Disaster Relief committee of the Diaconate approved and completed the purchase of these much needed items. Another of our members has graciously offered the use of two of his moving trucks to transport the items. Our congregation and community came together to fill TWO moving trucks with much needed supplies. Thank you to all who participated!
