2010 Thornwell Lecturers

 
Reverend Leo Schuster                     June  6
 
Mr. Schuster has served the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) as a campus minster for RUF (Reformed University Fellowship) at Southern Methodist University, as an assistant minister at Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, and as a church planter. In 1997, together with a small group of families, Leo started Christ the King Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Houston. Leo and his wife Ellen have three daughters,  Anna, Margaret, and Mary Caroline.  
 
Reverend Athole Rennie                     June 13
 
Mr. Rennie has been commissioned by First Presbytery of the ARP to plant a church in the Leith area of Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh. He officially began the work in December 2009 and continues to gather a core group of Christians to pray and plan for the launch of the mission. Athole and his wife Rosalynd have been married for four years and have one son, Erskine. 
 
Reverend Josh Geiger                     June 20
 
Mr. Geiger is the pastor of Cristo Rey Presbyterian Church (PCA), a cross-cultural church in Dallas, Texas, of English and Spanish-speaking people from many nations. Called to plant the church some seven years ago, Josh, along with his wife Shannon and their four children, have served Cristo Rey faithfully and seen it grow gradually into a community of older and younger Christians where (as the church’s name suggests) Christ reigns as King. 
 
Dr. Steve Casselli                             June 27
 
Dr. Casselli has been Senior Minister at Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church (PCA), Tampa, Florida, since 1998. Prior to his ministry at Holy Trinity, he worked in campus ministry at the University of Michigan and served as pastoral intern at Park Cities Presbyterian, Dallas, Texas, and Bucks Central Presbyterian in Pennsylvania. Dr. Casselli and his wife Missy have been married since 1986. They have three children, C.J., Daniel, and Katie.

Reverend Morrie Lawing                    July 11
 
Mr. Lawing is the founding pastor of Christ Church (ARP), Denver, NC. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech and Erskine Theological Seminary (M.Div.). Prior to planting Christ Church he was associate pastor of Education and Outreach at the Bartow ARP Church in Bartow, Florida, and founding pastor of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church (ARP) in Charlotte, NC. He and his wife Lori Jeanne have been married 21 years and have five children, Nathan, Nadine, Paul, AnnMarie, and Joel.  
 
Reverend Mark Tankersley                 July 18
 
A native of Greenville, SC, Mr. Tankersley attended Presbyterian College and graduated from Berea College in Kentucky with a B.A. in Religion. After completing his M.Div. at Erskine Theological Seminary, he served as pastor of Pressly Memorial ARP Church in Statesville, NC, Trinity ARP Church in Tampa, FL, and associate pastor of First ARP Church in Gastonia, NC. Currently the pastor of Gaston Community Church—a church he planted in Gastonia, NC—he and his wife Jan have two children, Carole-Anne and Hudson. 
 
Reverend Paul Pepin                    July 25
 
While pursuing his M.Div. at Columbia International University Mr. Pepin attended First Presbyterian Church and was the first student under our church’s care to become ordained in the ARP denomination. After graduating seminary in 1988, he was called as the pastor of Mayesville Presbyterian Church (ARP). In 1990 he moved to northeast Columbia to plant Long Creek Presbyterian Church (ARP) which is now called Crossings Community Church. Paul is married to Brenda and they have three sons, Paul, Matthew, and Mark.  
 
Dr. Alan Avera                                        August 1
 
Dr. Avera is the Executive Director of Outreach North America (ONA), the agency of the ARP Church charged with the responsibility for denominational programs of evangelism, multi-cultural ministries, renewal, and church development. The purpose of ONA is to introduce people to Jesus Christ by helping ARP presbyteries plant new churches and renew existing ones. He and his wife Eileen have three children, Kimberly, Mark, and Bethany.
