Brad joined the staff in September of 2007 as the Director of Youth Ministry after serving Boyce Memorial ARP Church as their Director of Youth and Family Ministry. He has a B.A. in Christian Education from Erskine College and a M.A. in Theological Studies and Doctorate of Ministry from Erskine Theological Seminary. Brad has served as a leader for presbytery and synod level retreats and conferences for the youth of the ARP for nearly 15 years.
Brad is married to Kelley and they have two sons and three daughters.
Chad joined the staff in the fall of 2016 and has been a member since 2012. He has a BS in Accounting from Bob Jones University and spent more than 20 years in the banking and healthcare industries prior to joining First Presbyterian Church.
Chad is married to Sharmin and they have one daughter and two sons.
Nate joined the staff in July of 2018 as the Assistant Director of College Ministry. He graduated from University of South Carolina in 2018 and was involved in FPC's College Ministry as a student and an intern.
Daniel joined the staff in July of 2007 as the church's first full-time music director. He holds a B.A. from Emory University and a Doctorate in Choral Conducting from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he also earned his M.M. degree. Prior to coming to Columbia, Daniel served on the faculty of the University of Delaware. He and his wife Holly had been actively involved in the music ministry of Church of the Good Shepherd in Bloomington, Ind., and Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia.
Daniel is married to Holly and they have four sons and one daughter.
Barbara joined our staff in May, 2017. She has a BS degree in Nursing from the University of South Carolina. She has more than 30 years of nursing experience, primarily as an operating room nurse and, most recently, in medical office administration.
Barbara is married to Scott and they have three daughters, one son-in-law, and one granddaughter.
Jimmy began working part-time for First Presbyterian Church in November of 1993 as the sports and recreation coordinator. He was employed for nine years with Richland School District One as a teacher and coach and for 26 years as a counselor for Vocational Rehabilitation. Jimmy has a BS degree in Health & Physical Education and a Masters degree in Counseling from the University of South Carolina. He has served as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church.
Jimmy is married to Betsy. They have a daughter and a son.
David joined our staff team in the summer of 2015. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University where he got connected with Cru, a ministry committed to introducing college students to Jesus Christ. After graduating David spent the next 12 years on staff with Cru, first at the University of South Carolina before becoming the director of the ministry at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, David's home town. While in Columbia, David was a member at First Presbyterian Church where he met his wife. David is currently working on his Master's of Divinity at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC.
David is married to Sarah and they have three young boys and one girl.
Beth Ann came to First Presbyterian in May 2011. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2011 with a major in Political Science, with a focus on International Studies. Her ministry is primarily with middle school girls and comes to FPC with experience in Young Life's Wyld Life ministry.
Hannah joined the FPC children’s ministry staff as the Assistant Children’s Director in February 2008. In January 2014 she was asked to become the Children’s Ministry Coordinator. She graduated from Columbia International University with a degree in Bible Teaching focusing on K5 through 5th grade. She later went on for a Masters in Bible from Columbia Biblical Seminary. Hannah has been teaching Bible to children for over 12 years in both church and Christian school settings.
Hannah is married to Chris and they have two sons.
Josh joined the Staff in April of 2017, coming from Trinity ARP Church in Tampa, Florida where he was the acting Youth Director and Outreach coordinator for nearly two years. He has a bachelors in Bible in Religion and minor in Philosophy from Erskine College.
Rev. Mathias is the Director of World Missions and of the Frank C. Hill Center for World Missions. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, he has served as minister of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Tampa, Director of Candidates for World Witness, and then as an Associate Minister for First Presbyterian Church until his retirement in December 2017. He initially came to FPC as Minister of Missions. He and his wife Anne have 3 grown and married children plus 5 grandchildren.
Thomas holds a master of music from the Yale School of Music and Institute of Sacred Music. He and his wife Julie, a violinist and music educator, are both graduates of the USC School of Music. They both previously served in the music ministry of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Nashville, were active in RUF at USC, and attended First Presbyterian Church during college.
Thomas and Julie have one son and two daughters.
Hannah joined the staff working part-time with the youth staff in October of 2012 and moved to a full-time position in June of 2013. Born and raised in Columbia, SC she grew up attending First Presbyterian Church. She graduated from the College of Charleston in 2012 with a major in Hispanic Studies and a minor in Linguistics. She did youth summer internships throughout her college years. In 2016, she moved to college ministry at FPC.
Tricia joined the staff in June of 2017. She earned her degree in Early Childhood Education at The University of South Carolina. She taught Kindergarten at Deerfield Elementary in Lexington for 3 years before joining the staff here at First Presbyterian Church. While in college, Tricia was an intern here and worked part time with both middle and high school students. She will be working in the Youth Ministry, primarily with high school girls.
Tricia is married to Andrew.
Richard joined the staff in July 2013. A native of Washington DC, his family moved south in1977. He graduated from The Culinary School of Washington D.C. in 1989. He has worked in many types of food and beverage operations, from hotels and convention centers to fine dining restaurants. Richard credits his mother, Joan, for sparking his interest and fueling his passion for good food and hospitality.
Richard is married to Cheryl and they have four married children and two grandchildren.
Emily joined the staff in March of 2015 and has been a member at First Presbyterian Church for 21 years. She attended the University of Kansas where she earned a degree in Exercise Physiology and was involved with The Navigators.
Emily is married to Robby and they have a son and a daughter.
